Summary: Everything was very nice and my wife and I had a relaxing stay. The fall colors were out in full glory and temprature was 29 degrees which was nice waking up to. We have stayed here before and will continue to do so.

Summary: Our room was very clean and the they had great pet options. Pets are very welcome! The Dyson blow dryer was a nice added touch…it worked amazing! Also loved the Sauna! The highway noise is very loud. And the heater kept making noise all night. We stayed in the Redwood room, very close to the highway. Wish there was a Sunday breakfast or brunch to eat. The bed could have been more comfy…felt like a futon.

Summary: It’s always a pleasure to come here and chill for a couple of days. We are cyclists who enjoy road riding in the area and Desolation is perfectly situated for that. And a wonderful place to come back to after a day of riding for an afternoon of hanging in the Aspen Grove. All amenities are first rate, staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant is good (especially breakfast). Nice hiking trails on the property and close by.

Summary: We had the Foxtail cabin and it was perfect for my sister and I. It had everything we needed and then some. Made me wish we stayed longer than the one night. The restaurant on the premises was very good and the waiter/manager was very attentive. The sauna was a great and unexpected perk.

Summary: This hotel is about 25 minutes from the main area of South Lake Tahoe/stateline, but it’s a beautiful drive that goes quickly and so worth it! We stayed in “St Nicks” cabin and it was just so perfect! So clean, well cared for, nicely stocked kitchen, and fun loft area to sleep in. I will for SURE stay at this Desolation Hotel again, and I will tell my friends and family as well. Thank you for a great spot!

Summary: For almost 100 years, this has been an oasis tucked into an aspen stand beneath craggy cliffs and a stone’s throw from a gorgeous valley meadow with an alpine stream wandering through it. You can bring your own food to cook in the amazing cabin kitchens that would make getting snowed in a treat, or you can dine on well-made and locally-sourced choices on the restaurant menu. Then you can stop off in the open spaces to chill, book a sauna session, toast marshmallows in the firepit under the stars, and have the kids wild out in the play areas and ample grounds to wander before you retreat to the most comfortable cabins with beds and pillows as soft as clouds for a restful night. This is my favorite place to unwind and unplug.
